Lasa Dynamics is a Spanish technology startup specializing in flight simulation and aeronautical training solutions. The company designs and manufactures FNPT II MCC and FTD flight simulators, while also providing complementary services such as technical consulting, certification, and operational support.
Based at BIC Araba - Alava Business and Innovation Centre, just a few kilometers from Vitoria, Spain, Lasa Dynamics was founded in 2023 by José Ramón Lasa, an aerospace engineer with extensive experience in flight simulation and over 20 years working in the sector asan expert in technical and regulatory environments.
Following a specialized B2B model, the Lasa Dynamics team manages the entire product lifecycle, from mechanical and software design to integration, testing, certification, and final operation. This approach enables the company to deliver tailor-made solutions to pilot training centers, academies, and universities with aviation programs, both in Spain and internationally. In this short period, the company has already achieved the sale and certification by the Spanish civil aviation authority (AESA) of a Boeing 737 FNPT II MCC simulator in Málaga. Another similar simulator is currently awaiting certification at the Aviation Simulation Center of the University of León-milestones that validate both its technology and its engineering processes.
Features of these simulators
An FNPT (Flight and Navigation Procedures Trainer) simulator is a certified training device used far advanced pilot training, particularly for learning to operate in a multi-crew environment. It is a fixed-base simulator designed to train flight and navigation procedures, rather than to reproduce the physical sensations of flight as in a full-flight simulator.
Level II is characterized by a realistic cockpit, full instrumentation, simulated aircraft systems, more accurate flight models, and intensive use of IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) procedures-rules and techniques based exclusively on cockpit instruments to navigate, communicate, and control the aircraft without externa! visual references.
The acronym MCC (Multi-Crew Cooperation) refers to specific training aimed at learning how to operate an aircraft with two pilots, as in commercial aviation.
An FNPT II MCC is primarily used in mandatory MCC courses far commercial pilots, focusing on coordination between captain and first officer, cockpit management, task sharing, and decision-making in both normal and abnormal situations. It is essential preparation befare transitioning to multi-engine or jet aircraft.
On the other hand, an FTD (Flight Training Device) simulator is a certified training device used far procedural training and practice. It is designed to train procedures, systems, and operation of a specific aircraft type (A320, B737, ATR, etc.) and stands between an advanced FNPT and a Full Flight Simulator (FFS) with motion, without reaching the latter's cost and complexity.
In addition to offering a replica cockpit of a specific aircraft, an FTD features realistic panels, displays, and systems, although its flight models are less demanding than those of an FFS. It may include motion, but typically does not, and its visual systems are advanced, though not required to meet full-flight standards. The FTD is used far training normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures, familiarization with specific aircraft systems, initial or recurrent crew training, and reducing training hours in real aircraft or FFS environments.
Services, a value proposition
However, Lasa Dynamics' approach goes beyond simply selling simulators; the company positions itself as a technology partner far pilot training centers, adapting its solutions to different needs and regulatory frameworks.
In this regard, the company offers various services to industry players, including software and hardware consulting, regulatory consulting far FSTD (Flight Simulator Training Devices), and the development of Compliance Monitoring Systems (CMS) far FSTD simulators.
The arrival of Lasa Dynamics in Spain's flight simulation sector brings technological diversity and introduces more flexible and affordable solutions tailored to specific niches such as pilot schools and universities, lowering barriers far clients with specialized needs or more limited budgets.
"Despite its youth and size, an SME like Lasa Dynamics can play a highly relevant role within the Spanish flight simulation industry,"says José Ramón Lasa. "We aim to create new market opportunities, foster competitiveness through our tailor-made products and services, and stimulate innovation in a strategic sector far aviation such as pilot training,"he concludes.
